This month we’re catching up with ContractWorks Account Manager Patricia VanHoove. A former research director for a television station in Texas, Patricia loves interacting with clients and plays a vital role in the formation of relationships.
Getting to Know Patricia
How long have you been at SecureDocs, Inc.*?
I joined SecureDocs, Inc. in 2015. I originally worked with our SecureDocs Virtual Data Room clients but transitioned to ContractWorks shortly after I was hired.
What were you doing prior to joining the ContractWorks?
Prior to joining the ContractWorks team, I worked for a TV station in Texas. I was the research director and was responsible for knowing how multiple factors in the news affected views, for example, Monday night football and The Bachelor as competing events airing on the same night.
How has your role evolved to what it is today?
I think my role is always evolving. When I first joined the ContractWorks team our product was still young. We had to learn what people were looking for to curate the product that we have today. Every day, I listen to what people have to say and try to decide what kind of product development would be helpful. As the product evolves, the role evolves.
My goal is to always be a knowledge base, and at times, that means learning about a new industry or role. I like knowing a little about a lot, or a lot about a lot, so I’ve always had an interest in what each department at our company is up to and how they operate.
What do you love about what you do?
I love being able to speak with people, figure out what they're doing, and see how I can help them do it in a more efficient way. Our sales strategy is very low pressure. If our product is not a fit for somebody, we would rather let them know early on. We want our product to be useful to the companies that purchase it.
What are some unexpected aspects of your job that surprised you?
I never thought working in tech would be something that interested me. But, once I got some experience at a tech company (SecureDocs, Inc.) it was something I wanted to keep learning about - it sparked my interest in a new, unexpected field. The industry is always changing which makes it exciting.
Can you tell me about a memorable moment where you felt like you really connected with/helped a client?
I had the opportunity to train clients in person while being home and visiting my family in Chicago. It was really nice to meet clients in person, being face to face, and seeing people use our software.
Why do you think what you do is important to the overall goals of ContractWorks?
We're a small team so you can really see your personal impact. The conversations and interactions with clients are valuable, you can see how one conversation with a client can make a difference for the entire company. Learning something new about a customer can help drive the direction that we are going with our product. I like being a small part of something larger.
How do you see your role changing and evolving?
My role is moving towards the product department. Kind of a liaison between sales, marketing, and engineering to make sure that we are always building towards customers goals and needs.
What excites you most about the future of ContractWorks?
Growth. Our company has continued to expand since I started. Being able to watch a company expand based on customers needs is inspiring.
