This month we're checking in with Robert Pena, Sales Development Representative at ContractWorks CLM software. Robert plays an important role working with potential customers to understand their unique contract management challenges and needs.
Getting to Know Robert
How long have you been at ContractWorks/SecureDocs, Inc.*?
I joined the ContractWorks team in December of 2018.
What were you doing prior to joining ContractWorks?
I was a full-time student studying Communication and Business/Entrepreneurship at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I worked in the Event Planning & Coordinating space hosting weddings and large corporate/private events.
What do you love about what you do?
First off, I love working with such an amazing team and company. As a Sales Development Representative (SDR), everyday is different, and the challenge of working with different companies, organizations, people, and industries is exciting and always changing. Everyone’s challenge is different, and you never know what you might be up against on any given day.
Why do you think what you do is important to the overall goals of ContractWorks?
As an SDR, our team is very important to the Sales process. We are definitely in the trenches on our day-to-day, and active outbound and inbound outreach is crucial to the success of the company. The SDR team focuses on the prospecting area of sales by setting up qualified meetings and demos, optimizing the sales process, building awareness, and helping identify and create sales opportunities in different channels.
What excites you most about the future of the company?
What really excites me about the future of the company is the room for growth and potential in our space. As technology and SaaS markets continue to grow, it will likely be industry standard for organizations to have software solutions for varying departments, teams, and areas of business, rather than relying on manual efforts. It is exciting to know that we are on the front lines of this growth!
What is your favorite quote?
One of my favorite movies has always been Shawshank Redemption, so naturally my favorite quote is:
“Get busy living, or get busy dying!”- Stephen King, Shawshank Redemption
What are you doing when you’re not in the office?
When I am not in the office, I enjoy anything involving the ocean and the beach, and I love hiking the trails and lookouts all throughout the Santa Barbara area. I'm definitely a live music junkie too, and love all types of music, concerts, and festivals.
Any other fun facts?
I was a first-generation college student along with many of my cousins, and I lived on a boat for around three months in the British Virgin Islands and sailed throughout the Caribbean.
