Meet Eugene Gimelberg, Director of Software Development

This month we’re catching up with Eugene Gimelberg, Director of Software Development at ContractWorks. Eugene plays a pivotal role building and refining the software that ContractWorks customers use on a regular basis.

Getting to Know Eugene

How long have you been at ContractWorks/SecureDocs, Inc.*?

I have been at ContractWorks coming up on 5 years this June!

What were you doing prior to joining ContractWorks?

I worked at Invoca for a little while working on call tracking and analytics. Before that, I spent many years working at RightScale, developing cloud computing applications with a bunch of great engineers that ultimately joined ContractWorks.

What do you love about what you do?

I love the constant challenges and ability to work with a great team to solve them. The engineering team at ContractWorks is top notch and every day I learn something new from them.

Why do you think what you do is important to the overall goals of ContractWorks?

I love taking complex problems and designing user interfaces around them. The friendly design and simplicity of the ContractWorks CLM software is what makes it so powerful. I want to ensure that while new functionality is added, our products remain accessible to everyone and users can become productive right away.

What excites you most about the future of the company?

As we are able to grow the various teams at ContractWorks, we are able to expand into areas that have huge benefits for our products, and ultimately our customers (Artificial intelligence being a prime example of that). The platform we built is an extensible and solid foundation onto which we can incorporate new technologies rapidly. As an engineer, this is exactly what I want to be doing. 

What is your favorite quote?

What are you doing when you’re not in the office?

I have two boys - a two and half year old and a three month old. I usually spend my time out of the office running around with the toddler and helping out with the baby. What other free time I have, you will find me either brewing beer or coding stuff for fun. 

Any other fun facts or hidden talents?

I began playing hockey at an early age and have not really stopped. I was also born in Ukraine and moved to California when I was five years old.
