Meet Dena Watkins, Marketing Specialist

This month we’re catching up with Dena Watkins, Marketing Specialist at ContractWorks. Dena is a key member of the ContractWorks CLM software Marketing team, and plays a significant role in coordinating industry events, designing marketing materials, managing projects, and much more.

Getting to Know Dena

How long have you been at ContractWorks, Inc.*?

I joined the ContractWorks marketing team August 2019.

What were you doing prior to joining ContractWorks?

Prior to joining SecureDocs I was a marketing and events manager for an orthodontic practice. We would do a ton of community events for local schools, athletic organizations, and the Scouts of America, as well as direct a continuing education program for doctors of all specialties in the dental field. So although I came to SecureDocs from a completely different industry, much of my previous experience translates into marketing and heading events for SecureDocs Inc. I’m also happy to provide complimentary dental advice to coworkers whenever needed. 

What do you love about what you do?

SecureDocs is a really special place to work for a number of reasons, but I think one of the best advantages is the size of our company and how that affects my role and what I do here. Because we are a relatively small, but well-established team, I enjoy a variety of responsibilities that keep things interesting and is rewarding in that I feel each person has a real impact here. I love coordinating our various events with groups like the Association of Corporate Counsel and IACCM, and I also really enjoy getting to use my design skills whenever called upon.

Why do you think what you do is important to the overall goals of SecureDocs/ContractWorks?

As I mentioned earlier, I feel that every person on the team has a real impact within our company. I think what I do is important to our overall goals because I am able to provide support for a number of different initiatives, many of which aim to build awareness around the products we offer and how they provide solutions to address customer needs. 

What excites you most about the future of the company?

I think one of the things that makes the future of this company so exciting is how our team has such a clear and cohesive shared vision for the way in which we want to grow. What really differentiates our products from others is our ease-of-use and quick implementation, which both prioritize saving our users valuable time, along with our high level of quality support. So moving forward we understand the need to balance continuously creating smarter technology and high impact features, while maintaining an interface that is intuitive and user-friendly. 

What is your favorite quote?

I don’t have a stored favorite quote, but in narrowing down my Google selection, like it or not, I’m going with one from Tony Robbins: "The only impossible journey is the one you never begin."

What are you doing when you’re not in the office?

When I’m not working I enjoy creating and being active. I was a studio art major in college and continue to sculpt and paint in my free time. I moved from San Francisco back to my hometown of Santa Barbara about 5 years ago and I love getting to hike, surf, and bicycle around our beautiful area with its warmer weather. Being so close to Los Angeles, I also make many day trips into the city to enjoy the amazing art scene and restaurants nearby. 

Any other fun facts or hidden talents?

I guess I would say a ‘fun fact’ my coworkers likely don’t know about me is that when I’m not cruising around in my Honda, I like to get out on my motorcycle and enjoy long road trips to new places.
