One of the largest gatherings of influential women in law is right around the corner. ALM’s Women, Influence and Power in Law Conference (WIPL) will be held October 16th-18th at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, DC. The three-day conference will host an elite audience of 600+ senior leaders and decision makers and will provide a jam-packed agenda featuring renowned keynote speakers, dynamic discussion-based panels, peer-to-peer learning, and interactive technology workshops.

With so many choices for attendees, we have highlighted three items that should not be missed.

Keynote Speakers: Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Women's Everest Expedition Team Captain Alison Levine

One of the most accomplished public figures in the country, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch will share insights from her journey to become the first female African American Attorney General. Appointed as Attorney General by President Barack Obama in 2015, he described her as “the only lawyer in America who battles mobsters, drug lords and terrorists, and still has the reputation for being a charming ‘people person.” Lynch has built a reputation as a formidable defender of civil and human rights, and with a career spanning over 30 years, she has a wealth of knowledge to share with audience members. Expect to be inspired and walk away with valuable insights on how your business can better navigate and thrive in a changing global workforce. The keynote presentation, “A Conversation with Attorney General Loretta Lynch” will take place on Thursday, October 17th at 9:15am.

On Friday, October 18th at 8:45am, Women's Everest Expedition Team Captain and New York Times Best Selling Author Alison Levine will present “On the Edge: The Art of High-Impact Leadership.” A history-making adventurer, Levine makes the connection between surviving extreme conditions, like climbing Everest, to the demanding environment of business and climbing the corporate ladder. Levine has not only climbed the highest peak on each continent and skied to both the North and South Poles, but has also served as deputy finance director to Arnold Schwarzenegger and as an adjunct professor at the US Military Academy at West Point. Expect to be engaged while learning leadership principles from one of the most accomplished team leaders of our time.

Annual WIPL Networking Luncheon

SCOTUS legend Lisa Blatt has been added to the WIPL agenda on Thursday, October 17th for a “Spotlight Presentation: Supreme Court Update.” Blatt has argued 37 cases before the United States Supreme Court, more than any other woman, and prevailed in 34. Referred to as a “visionary” and one of the "100 most influential lawyers in America," Blatt currently serves as Chair of Williams & Connolly’s Supreme Court and Appellate practice. Attendees can expect to hear Blatt’s take on why women are only arguing a fraction of the cases in front of SCOTUS and how that can change, and walk away with an insider update on current trends and decisions from the Justices.

Technology Workshops

One of the best possible outcomes from attending a conference is finding a solution to a current issue your business is facing. Making sure to leave time in your schedule for a technology workshop is a great place to start. Perhaps you are looking to increase workplace efficiency so that you have more time to focus on the larger legal matters. A solution to a number of day-to-day headaches may be as simple as implementing the right contract management software. ContractWorks will be hosting workshops where attendees can see first hand how contract management software with artificial intelligence can help corporate legal teams lower risks, decrease costs, and save valuable time. The workshops will take place every 30 minutes on Wednesday, October 16th from 10:30am-12:00pm and 1:30pm-3:00pm, Thursday, October 17th from 2:45pm-3:45pm, and Friday, October 18th from 10:15am-11:15am and 11:20am-12:20pm. Stop by with any questions or just say hi and grab a ContractWorks notebook! We hope to see you there.
